Echoes of Mylo

A Tanka tribute to my daughter’s dog

Dogs, strange in our world,

Faithful companions they stand,

Mylo, my daughter’s joy,

His thoughts veiled, yet clearly there,

At home, he shines with pure grace.

Grandkids play, he’s unfazed,

Bones, toys, or a simple stroll,

Mylo, easy-going soul,

In the garden, he stands tall,

Judgment-free, he’s love’s embrace.

Tranquil spirit, rooted deep,

Dignity in every stride,

Border collie, wise and kind,

Rebellion not in his creed,

Patience in his every gaze.

No anxiety in his heart,

No trace of fickle worry,

Mylo, present in the now,

In his eyes, my day takes flight.

Mylo echoes Rover,

Childhood friend, pure and kind,

Gone for my mistake,

Regret lingers, grief remains,

In my heart, his memory.

Boyhood Memories of Rover
